Stable, easy to learn in under 15 minutes, and made for calm lakes, sunset paddles, and anyone who wants to get on the water without committing to a full day.
Lake McDonald is made for paddleboards, and so is any lake or calm water in the area. Rent for a full day or for 4 hours; boards usually have walk-up availability.
Where to Paddle
Lake McDonald (in Glacier National Park, 25 minute drive): mirror-water alpine lake under the peaks. You need a Glacier National Park entrance pass and a free Aquatic Invasive Species inspection at the park entrance before launching; the inspection takes about 10 minutes.
Whitefish Lake (20 minute drive): mellow and beginner-friendly, with good restaurants nearby for after your paddle. It can be very busy during the summer.
Any calm water nearby: ask us at pickup and we point you to the quiet spots for the day.
What Is Included
The board, a paddle and a personal flotation device. Personal flotation devices are required by Montana law for everyone on the water.
Before You Launch
Even in July, glacier-fed water is 50 degrees or colder, so dress for a swim, not for the shore. Weather changes fast; we check the forecast with you at pickup and steer you away from any sketchy conditions.
Other Boats
For a river float with a group, see the 14-foot raft. For lakes you have to hike to, a packraft goes in your backpack.
